Delonge: 'It's the End for Blink-182'
Punk star Tom Delonge has broken fans of Blink-182's hearts by insisting the trio will never reform.
The group has always maintained they're taking a break to work on new projects but singer DeLonge has revealed there are no plans to bring the band back together.
And he states that problems between himself and bandmates Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus on the group's last tour will make a reunion difficult.
DeLonge tells Blender magazine, "We were trying to figure out what everyone needed to keep the band going. The funny thing was, we figured it out on that tour for that very last week."
"It was when we came home that the problems came to a head... I truly feel it's the end."
DeLonge admits there are many things he misses about his former bandmates, but they are outweighed by things he's glad he no longer has to deal with.
He adds, "I guess the thing I miss least is just all the misunderstandings at the end of our career. We weren't 16-year-olds anymore."

Mark Hoppus Joins Fuse
Former Blink-182 co-vocalist/bassist Mark Hoppus has signed on as the "official spokesperson" of Fuse TV's Just for the F of It site.
Hoppus will be blogging and providing a biweekly podcast for the site which provides music, gaming and entertainment content. He had this to say:
"We're both trying to bring new music to a new audience and occasionally introduce something that fans might not have otherwise been exposed to...And we're both under the impression that people give an F about what we're trying to say."
Hoppus and Travis Barker announced their post-Blink-182 project, Plus 44 last year. The band also includes Carol Heller, formerly of Get the Girl and formed when their former band went on an indefinite hiatus. [[full article]]
Tom Delonge Puts His Money Where His Mouth Is
This isn't going to be another one of those Angels & Airwaves stories where Tom DeLonge makes jaw-dropping statements about the greatness of his new band's music without actually providing audible proof of said music's greatness.
No, this one is actually about the music.
That's because finally, after months of calling A&A everything short of "the New Beatles" — and almost a year to the day that his former band, Blink-182, went on "indefinite hiatus" — DeLonge has posted an actual song on the band's Web site, AngelsAndAirwaves.com.
It's called "The Adventure," a tune that DeLonge first told MTV News about back in December. And it's accompanied by an arty, black-and-white video directed by Mark Eaton.[[full article]].

Plus 44, Angels and Airwaves and other shiznit
Nothing new has been happening on the Blink front. Plus 44 Have however released their first song (Ironically on Tom's birthday) titled "No It Isn't" You can hear it at the official site. Also, Tom has indeed been busy. Come January the first single and video of Angels and Airwaves will be released, which is still unknown for now.Is this the new rock and roll revolution we have finally been waiting for? It will remain to be seen.

Awesome, the rest of the article is here.
  • Blink 182 has added another song to their upcoming Greatest Hits release. The frequently requested fan favourite "Carousel," from their 1995 release Cheshire Cat will lead off the release which is due out November 1st via Geffen.
  • The band has also posted a three-minute retrospective video, titled "Ret-ro-spect" and you can check that out on their official website.
  • For the past 6 months, Tom DeLonge has been in the studio preparing the greatest rock-n-roll revolution for this generation.
Stay tuned to Macbeth Shoes for the latest news regarding Tom DeLonge's new band, Angels and Airwaves.
"I love my fans, and I promise, I will not let you down. The music that we all grew to charish that was made, not only will continue, but it will be much, much better. All I can say is hold on, and prepare..." -- tom delonge
  • Mark Hoppus has just started his own reality wonder via podcast called "Hi My Name is Mark". Every two weeks will let you know what’s on his mind and on his ipod. According to his site the podcast, “will consist of all things rad. bands you haven't heard of, bands you have heard of, and bands i haven't heard of. and maybe, if we are all very lucky, bands i have heard of. i'm going to use this as an excuse to discuss things important (and unimportant) to me and my friends.”. You can access his new site by visiting HiMyNameIsMark.com. Be sure to bookmark it!
  • Travis has formed another band with Texas rap sensation Paul Wall. Just days after the drummer debuted his latest project with Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein at California's Inland Invasion concert, he has announced another venture, Expensive Tastes, with Wall and fellow Transplants star Rob Aston.
The busy punk star is also expanding his clothing label, Famous Stars and Straps, and adding to his talents by becoming an unlikely hip-hop producer.
He adds, "It (hip-hop) has always been a passion of mine. I've been listening to hip-hop since I was listening to music. It was always crazy to be in punk rock bands and rock bands and always be listening to soul or R+B or hip-hop - stuff I didn't play, so it's exciting to work with artists."

Wow, a lot has been happening in just over a month! =) I will try and update more regularly with news on the guys.

    Where is Tom Delonge?
That is what I have been hearing everywhere. We all know what Mark is doing (producing albums) We all know what Travis is doing (Meet the Barkers, touring with the Transplants) but yes, what about Tom?

As far as I know, Tom has been helping promote his clothing company, Macbeths, new website as they are branching out to be bigger and better (website here), Also, there is rumour circulating that Tom is doing a solo album.
BBC Radio 1 had The Foo Fighters as Jo Wiley's special Live Lounge guests on Tuesday morning. Within the interview, one of the questions involved talking about the Foo Fighters own studio.
    Question [Jo Wiley]:
“Who you got set up to come in and record?”
    Answer [Foo Fighters]:
“Tom from Blink is recording there right now actually, recording the drums for his new record.” (found on blinkcentral)

I think it is becoming less and less likely that blink will reuinite.

Travis Barker's Plus-44 LP On Schedule, But Not On The Clock
There's some good news and some bad news about Plus-44, the electronic-tinged side project of former Blink-182 compadres Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker.
First, the bad news: Despite Internet rumors, Plus-44's debut album won't be hitting stores in January, according to the band's management. The good news? Well, just like Barker told MTV News back in May, the Plus album will see the light of day next summer which to rabid Blink fans isn't really good news at all. Sorry about that.
"We'll get back to writing Plus-44 songs sometime in October. That's when I have a couple of weeks off before I leave on the Pennywise tour [with another side project, Transplants]," Barker told MTV News. "In the meantime, Mark and Carol [Heller, Plus-44's female vocalist] have been writing, and I'll just kind of join back up with them here or there. And then for sure we'll work hard on it for a couple of months starting in February."

Blink-182 Reunion Rumor Causes Premature Exhilaration
A quick note to Blink-182 fans out there: Don't hold your breath for a reunion anytime soon.
Last week, fan sites were abuzz with rumors that Blink — who went on "indefinite hiatus" in February — were reuniting to play Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM's Inland Invasion concert on September 17, a move that probably would've shattered the record for shortest indefinite hiatus ever.
But according to Blink's label and management team, there is no truth to those rumors, and Blink-182 will not be performing. Even KROQ seemed to have no idea where the rumor came from.

"For over a decade, Blink-182 has toured, recorded and done non-stop promotion all while trying to balance relationships with family and friends.
To that end, the band has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with their loved ones. While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."

Even for scatological songwriters Blink-182, there's a time to put your pants back on and stop obsessing over about poop, pee-pee and other bodily functions.
Not that the bandmembers have lost their sense of humor — they've just matured a little. In June, drummer Travis Barker announced at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Los Angeles that the band's next album would be called Use Your Erection 1 & 2 (see "Blink-182 LP Gets Title From GN'R, Gloom From Robert Smith"). He was joking. The disc, due November 18, will be self-titled, signaling a rebirth of sorts for the pop-punk group.
The conceptual record will confront themes of growing up and dealing with the realities of adulthood including relationship woes, daily pressures and unexpected hardships. The tracks will blend into one another musically and will develop lyrically like chapters in a book, a spokesperson for the band said.
Call it the natural result of aging or the byproduct of spawning. Since they released Take Off Your Pants and Jacket in 2001, singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge and singer/bassist Mark Hoppus have each had a child. And drummer Travis Barker's girlfriend, Shanna Moakler, is due to deliver a baby on October 17. In addition, DeLonge and Barker's work with the more sobering band Box Car Racer and Barker's work with the electronic- and hip-hop-influenced Transplants have helped shape the band's growth.
For the past week, Blink-182 have been at Conway Studios in Los Angeles, where they'll remain for another two weeks, mixing and mastering with producer Jerry Finn. All of the tracks were recorded over the past six months at a studio they built in a rented house near San Diego. Ryan Hewitt engineered the disc.
The longest stint Blink-182 have ever spent recording a record was three months, so having twice that time allowed them the luxury of experimenting with different methods of writing, playing and recording.
"Action," the only track that currently has a title, will be featured on the "Madden 2004" video game, which comes out Thursday (see "Blink-182, Outkast, Bone Crusher, Joe Budden Score Tracks On 'Madden 2004' "). It is unknown whether the song will be the first single off the record.
The cut starts with flanged drums before bursting into a prototypical stabbing guitar rhythm, and then it gets a little unconventional. A syncopated Latin-flavored backbeat and a harmony-rich chorus follow volleys of half-barked vocals. After a hooky bridge, Hoppus and DeLonge harmonize with one another while singing different vocal parts.
Like many Blink-182 songs, "Action" is about failed romance, but it's not juvenile or one-dimensional. Instead it illustrates a scenario of lust, ambivalence and regret. As the first big riff kicks in, Blink sing, "Where do we go from here?/ Turn all the lights down now/ Smile from ear to ear/ My breathing has got too loud."
Then, as the song hits the refrain, the protagonist reflects over his romance's dimming flame: "We fell short this time, smile fades in the summer/ Place your hand in mine, I'll leave when I wanna." At the bridge, the main character acknowledges that he didn't know what he had until it was gone: "This place was never the same again after you came and went/ How can you say you meant anything deeper to anyone?"
Blink-182 will play "Action" and other songs from their new record when they play U.K. festivals at Reading (August 22) and Leeds (August 23).

Prior to appearing at BayFest in Sarnia, Ontario, Blink-182 took the time to clear the air about a few of the rumours surrounding the band and their forthcoming album. Guitarist Tom Delonge denied that the disc would be titled "Use Your Erection Vols. 1 and 2", though he did say that it had been one of the titles that was initially considered by the band. The band currently faces a lawsuit from a former roadie who claims that he came up with their last album title, "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket". "It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life," Delonge told Much. "I think he was just sore about other stuff He's just trying to get money because he has none." Delonge also confirmed that the band would be traveling to the Middle East to perform for American troops. Though plans have not been finalized, Delonge said that the band hoped to play on a carrier ship originating from their hometown of San Diego, California.

Blink-182 are scheduled to perform two shows for troops stationed in the Persian Gulf. For security reasons, the exact dates and locations were not disclosed.
Blink-182, Outkast and Nappy Roots will contribute new songs to the football video game's soundtrack, while Joe Budden, AFI and the Roots offer previously released tunes, according to an Electronic Arts spokesperson. In the case of Blink-182, "Madden 2004" will be the first place to hear "Action," a song off the trio's forthcoming Use Your Erection I and II (see "Blink-182 LP Gets Title From GN'R, Gloom From Robert Smith"), while the Roots remixed their "Rock You," off last year's Phrenology, exclusively for the soundtrack.
